  General Notes:

John Matthews - Merchant of Aleppo, Syria, established a charity in his will for the education of the sons of his "Kindred". This charity is still running (@26/3/2001) & is now used for the education of students living within the parishes surrounding Ruthin.

"Kindred" of John Matthews are still able to apply but are unlikely to receive assistance unless they live in the UK.

The Bursar of Ruthin School (bursar@ruthinschool.co.uk) is one of the Trustees of this charity.
